Montebello Farm Braunvieh Cows and Calves

Montebello Farm is also very proud of our Braunvieh cattle. For those of you who are not familiar with this breed let me tell you a little about them and why they are so special. Braunvieh is not a crossbreed but is considered one of the oldest pure beef breeds in the world.

Many think Braunvieh derived from Brown Swiss yet the truth is Brown Swiss developed from the Braunvieh beef cow. They are known for the white band around the muzzle and dark brown color found in the full blood. Purebreds can be almost any color, including black.

Braunvieh have more profit potential due to increased fertility, live calves and milk production along with maternal excellence. Braunvieh cows typically weigh 1100 to 1500 pounds and mature bulls 1800 to 2500 pounds. They are moderate in size and frame and will pass on their muscle, superior quality grade, growth rate and efficient feed conversion to their progeny.

These cattle are very adaptable and are found in over 60 countries worldwide.
